When creating an excel file for Protect you need to follow the specific format of uploading businesses


Businesses and individuals need to be uploaded into Protect separately. The business template is attached and the individual one can be found here Individual Template



Business template


The following column headers are needed in the business upload with two required fields. Below is a list of the column headers needed with an explanation of the data needed within the field. 


Business Name* - Company name, this field is required. 

Country - Country needs to be a country code, we have a list of the country codes attached below. 

Address - 1st Line of address

Phone Number - Telephone number

City - City 

Postcode - Postcode 

Profile Name* Profile Name is a required field within the upload. There is no limit to profiles. Businesses and individuals can be mixed within a profile. 



Saving the file in the correct format


The upload files need to be uploaded into Protect in (.CSV) and must be provided in UTF-8 Encoding, you can complete both of these by following the below steps.


Click 'Save as' on Excel

Select 'Save as type' as .CSV

Select 'Tools' next to 'Save' and then select 'Web options'

Choose encoding across the top of the pop-up. 

Select Unicode (UTF-8) within the dropdown labelled 'Save this document as' and click ok. 

You can now save your file and upload the file into the Protect product. 



Uploaded results


Your file will now start screening within the background, once the file has been completed it will show one of three statuses. 


Completed - Your file has successfully uploaded and the relevant profiles have been created. 

Partially completed - Your file has uploaded all the correct records but there is an issue with records in the file. You can download the error file which enables you to rectify the problems and upload a new file with the corrected records.  

Failed - There is an issue with records in your file. You can download the error file which enables you to rectify the problems and upload a new file with the corrected records.
